Maija Hirvanen

The starting point for Maija Hirvanen’s choreography Blink is in the duration of a blink, in this momentary blindness. The performance started to form itself during a residency in Iceland 2007, as it was occasionally impossible to see anything on that dark island in January. The performance forms stories of seeing, believing and selecting through physical art. Some of these stories emerge from far-away-far-ago places, some are born here-and-now. All of the stories are born out of the body’s capacity select actions and hold perceptions.
